Taking inspiration from some of the most iconic late-90s Japanese wheels like the very rare Mazdaspeed MS01 and ultra-desirable NISMO LMGT4, which have both established themselves as JDM cult favorites over the years, we set out to design a 5 spoke wheel to bring that OEM+ style into the modern era. We started with a set of original MS01 Mazdaspeed wheels as a basis to begin our design study in bringing this design back to life 25+ years later, in a forged, lightweight, durable wheel, with optimized fitment for a few select chassis. What resulted was an ultra stiff, fully forged modern take on a classic design.
The MS01+ started life in our engineering and design studio, examining a few different variants and sizes of the original Mazdaspeed and NISMO wheels from Japan. After 3D scanning and reverse engineering some elements, we widened the design to 9.5" and designed the spoke architecture from the ground up to be a wheel that is durable enough for harshest track use. We are proud to bring back this iconic design language for a period correct late 90's JDM-Tuner wheel that looks stunning on not just the FD RX-7 but all modern chassis.
Our wheels are CAD optimized for fitment and durability using fully forged from premium aluminum, offering exceptional strength without the weight penalty. Forged under 10,000 tons of pressure to give you a wheel that is the ultimate lightweight to strength ratio, all of our wheels are durability tested according to JWL standards. We’ve also optimized the sizing to allow for larger tires while fitting within the stock fenders, ensuring a wider stance for improved grip and handling. With a hub-centric design and load ratings tailored to specific chassis, these wheels are built to perform.
To keep your tires firmly in place under heavy braking and acceleration, we’ve incorporated knurled bead seats. We've also ensured that the wheels will clear all of SakeBomb Garage & MiataSpeed’s upgradeable big brake kits, including our entire range of AP Competition and Wilwood setups big brake kit setups, as well as our range of FPSpec suspension kits.
Specifically for the MS01+ we offer not just flat - but also optional 'raised' color-matched center caps ensure a seamless look. Please specify which option you'd prefer during check-out.
